How to Brew Loose-Leaf Herbal Tea
Loose-leaf herbal tea is simple to make, and a few details make it taste better.
The basics
- Use about 1 tablespoon of dried herbs for each cup.
- Use freshly boiled water.
- Cover the cup while it steeps, to keep the aroma in.
- Steep for 5 to 10 minutes.
Leaves, flowers or roots?
Soft leaves and flowers need a shorter steep. Fruit and rose hips need longer. Tough roots and bark are often simmered gently in a pot.
Good to know
Herbal teas are not all right for everyone. If you are pregnant, take medication or have a health condition, check with a pharmacist first.
